Facebook Fans! Warcom’s owning the social networking scene
Monday, December 5th, 2011Taking an interest in our competitors has always been a very popular past time here at Warcom.
We especially like to keep tabs on how well competitors are doing on the various social networking sites, like Facebook & Twitter.
In order to do this, we monitor their Facebook fan numbers and Twitter Follower numbers.
Verifying how many followers or Facebook fans these businesses have generally gives us a decent indication as to whether or not the bullshit they spread around the various media outlets and online communities are actually real.
For example:
There’s one certain competitor who claims to be “Australia’s Fastest Growing Online Retailer” … Yet they only have 290 Facebook Fans and 17 Twitter followers? Right.
I’ll let those metrics speak for themselves.
But consider this – if you’re the fastest growing retailer in Australia, wouldn’t you expect to find a lot of facebook fans interacting with you socially?
This certainly doesn’t appear to be the case for this company.
Never mind the fact that, JB HiFi is without a doubt, Australia’s fast growing Online Retailer anyway.
So making the claim, is just straight out false advertising.

Looks like we’ll have to catch up to our old mate Dick Smith, but I’m pretty certain we’ll be trying for a while to catch JB.
