Network Attached Storage for under $100? That can’t be right?

Well guess what? That just happened! Presenting our new range of Welland hard drive enclosures!

Welland offer a range of stylish, versatile enclosures and are available at a great price at warcom!

I’m sure you are now busy browsing through our range of enclosures, deciding which one might best suit your needs.
Well today, I’m here to help. Here are two particular models we need to look at, both of which offer the beauty of NAS…

First up is the ME-747ANS. It’s a black 3.5 SATA I and II enclosure, with a variety of connection types including 2 x USB, Esata and of course, the all important Ethernet 10/100Mbps. I actually just brought one of these units and you just can’t beat it for the price. The unit is simple to set up for basic file sharing, and the ability to share printers, set-up FTP or Samba exist as well. Also worth noting is the built-in Itunes and BitTorrent client. The unit features a 30mm fan inside the case, keeping the drive cool without being too loud for a bedroom or office. And, just incase you need some extra space, the enclosure has a USB host port on the back  allowing you to connect another external hard drive to your NAS drive!  How good is that!

Available now at warcom, grab an awesome entry-level NAS device for under $100!

Now I know your pretty impressed so far, you might even be a bit excited but before we wrap things up let’s say you’ve got an additional few dollars just lying around. The ME-752GNS is the big brother of the ME747ANS and like all big brothers, he’s a little faster and a little better at adapting to change (this will make sense in a second). He’s basically a 3.5″  EZSwap Gigabit NAS Enclosure! This unit has all the great connectivity features of the ME-747ANS enclosure but also features Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000Mbps) as well as the ability to EZSwap drives in and out by simply removing the faceplate, ejecting and replacing the drive. Sounds pretty good to me!

All this and more can be had with just a quick visit to warcom.

    Hello,

I have some queries about the Wellland ME-752GNS as I planning to buy it but I am not really clear about its capabilities.

    1. Does it support adding another USB attached harddisk to the USB port to increase the NAS storage space. Although the USB port is advertised as the printer port to support USB printers, has anyone tried it get some results.

    2. If it does not allow adding a USB harddisk to increase storage in the stock firmware, does it allow to be updated with any custom firmware like FreeNAS to provide this functionality.

    3. On the website specs it states as below :

    - File System FAT32 for LAN mode , FAT32/NTFS for USB/eSATA mode

Does it means it will not support Linux Ext2/Ext3 file format in any modes (USB/ESATA/Ethernet).

I plan to use ext3 as the file format while running it via the Ethernet (as a true NAS device). Have you or anyone else tested it with such setup.

Would appreciate if you can speedily respond.

    Thanks.
