How to Find Out Your Landline Phone Number

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

With the insane cost of purchasing a home these days, chances are that you probably aren’t moving into a new place right now…

But on the odd chance that you are moving, after you’ve lightly decorated, you’re probably going to want to know the landline phone number which the house is/was connected to, so you can hook up your Internode ADSL2+ service as quick as possible.

Having just been through this myself, I think I can help!

First thing to do is try to dial out. If you can call your own mobile phone, your landline number will be displayed on the screen. If the phone rings from a private number, simply dial “1832” in front of your mobile number. This forces call ID so you can identify the number. If you have been successful with this it’s a big bonus, as it means your phone line is probably still connected and may allow for an easy transition to your new TPG internet connection.

If you can’t dial out, chances are your connection was disconnected when the last resident left. That’s okay though… I have the solution!

By simply dialing the relevant number below, a computerised lady will answer and chat to you over the phone. Unfortunately the conversation is strictly limited to your landline phone number being repeated three times, however this call is free and could be an avenue for you, if you are lonely without Internet.

Telstra line – 12722123

Optus Line – 1272312

Congratulations! You now have your landline phone number in your possesion (assuming you wrote it down, otherwise it’s not in your possesion at all). From here all you need to do is borrow/steal/commandeer someone’s internet, jump online and lock in an Internet deal with Internode or TPG (see blog below for an in-depth comparison on these two). Failing this, you can just as easily call either company to sign up. If you are looking for the best internet deals be sure to use our warcom promo code during your sign up for a further saving as well!

Now we play the waiting game! Depending on the ISP and whether or not you’re connection was active, it may take between 3 days and 3 weeks to go live (possibly including a visit from a technician to hook things up as well). Either way, you’ve made a good start to get the internet connected in your new home.

Thanks and all the best!

TPG or Internode?

Monday, March 7th, 2011

With the Internet rebates Warcom is offering at the moment, you’d be CRAZY not to switch your ISP now if you’ve been thinking of doing it. The only issue is, which ISP to pick, they all offer great deals with loads of Downloads/Uploads, but I’m going to talk about 2 main competitors, TPG vs Internode.

Internode.

Internode has been around for a while, starting off with game server hosting, then moving into major Internet hosting nation wide. Internode is certainly a respected ISP providing rock solid Internet with high speeds and constant connection.

Pros

  • Rock Solid, very low downtime.
  • Very good Customer support (perfect for someone who has never installed and ADSL modem in the past)
  • Available in most areas.
  • High speed.
  • Great for gaming or server hosting.

Cons

  • Just one, the price, Internode is more expensive then TPG, making you wonder if it’s worth having. But you have to understand what you’re paying for, just look at the PROS!
  • Expensive

With an overview of Internode, you’re looking at solid Internet with low downtime and constant customer support. Worth the extra $10? Let’s see.

TPG.

There’s mixed views on TPG, some people love TPG, some people see them as the devil.  I guess like all products everyone has a different story to tell.

Pros

  • Uncapped and straight forward plans
  • Very easy sign up process
  • High speeds and a great support network amongst a large community of users
  • Short wait time to speak to a customer service representative
  • Easy to understand billing and ability to change your plan online in minutes via your portal
  • Fast support via email (Via TPG or Warcom as we are dealers and happy to help!)
  • Free TV!

Cons

  • Can take a while to install if it is a new line
  • Sometimes the call centre experience can be less than favourable
  • System is designed to be self service and not really set up for users who require a lot of hand holding

So, TPG or Internode?

Just by comparing the Pros and Cons of Internode and TPG it’s pretty clear which one is going to get you more bang for your buck. Internode is a stand out winner, but it’s somewhat more expensive, where TPG will offer cheaper and more Internet, but at slightly slower speeds. Internode never drops out and has great customer service from my experience.

That’s just my opinion though, you may have a completely different one, where you think TPG is God and you’ve never had a problem with them, do feel free to share for I’d be interested to see how many people got lucky with TPG.
