Monitor Stands. Single, Dual, Triple, Quad. How big can you go?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

The world has changed from back when we had massive CRT monitors taking up precious space on our work desks. A 17″ monitor is now the lowest end of the spectrum. We have evolved into bigger and better things. LCD, LED, DVI, HDMI, 1080p, these are the new words you’ll find when you purchase a monitor these days. For gamers, the bigger the better. We love to immerse ourselves in the details. For office use, multiple monitors provide us with a way of having a lot of different programs open on screen at the same time, improving productivity.

Thinner is better and we reclaimed a little bit of that desk space back. But then something happened. We weren’t satisfied. We wanted more. So we purchased a second monitor. Or a third if we had the extra dollars. We had the extra space so why not? Now we had a monitor solely to display emails on, while we were gaming or surfing the net on the other. Productivity increased but desk space real estate decreased once again.

monitor stands

Fortunately some bright spark invented monitor stands. This revolution allows us to do so many new things. Rotation, pivot, ceiling mount and the ability to join monitors side by side allows us to increase productivity and even extend the resolution of the desktop beyond the standard. Aside from the obvious solutions this offers, there are other factors that some people might overlook. The ability to raise/lower or pivot a monitor can be used as a security measure by allowing or disabling certain people from viewing your sensitive data. Positioning the monitor at correct eye level increases ergonomics which helps your posture and allows for more comfortable work (or play) in front of your computer.

Some things to look for when choosing the correct stand for your needs include materials used, design, weight restrictions, adjustments (raise/lower, pivot, horizontal/vertical), and lastly cable management. If you are looking for a way to enhance your viewing pleasure or even just to tidy up some of the clutter on your desk, I recommend checking out monitor stand range. We have a large selection so please feel free to take a look around and find something that suits your needs.

Warcom Wizards – BETA

Friday, October 21st, 2011

We’re excited to announce a new initiative we’re trialing here at Warcom.

Introducing The Warcom Wizards!

Over the last few years, we’ve kept tabs on certain Warcom customers, who we consider to be the early adopter, super geek, bleeding edge, trail blazers.

As such, we’ve been busily building a new system which imports all sorts of data, metrics, maths equations and generates a graph based on what it believes, to be the best products based on the category they reside in.

For example, we’ll display the best over all ADSL  Modem from best -> worst, in the ADSL Modem category.

What do we need from you?

In order to actually make this system work successful, we actually need to sign up around 200 customers so we can get a decent data segment that we can use.

So, over the coming week’s we will be scouring our client database and inviting people to become Warcom Wizard’s.

What do I get for being a Warcom Wizard?

  • Bragging right’s: You can tell your mates that you’re part of the exclusive Warcom Wizard team.
  • Exclusive pricing: To be considered a Warcom Wizard, you need to be a frequent purchaser. Frequent purchases get better pricing, so we’ll make sure we look after you.
  • You will receive an honorary Warcom Wizard Number, which you can stick on your Facebook, Twitter, Blog, Website. etc.
How do I become a Warcom Wizard?
  • If you frequently buy the latest and greatest hardware, even in small quantities, there is a good chance you’ll receive an invite.
  • If you frequently buy the latest and greatest hardware, in large quantities, there’s an even better chance you’ll receive an invite.
  • If you conduct yourself in a professional manner, in and around social mediums and or forums, and you buy from us, there is a good chance you will be invited.
Rules of becoming a Warcom Wizard.
  • First rule: Don’t ask to be one.
  • We prefer you don’t share your buying history with others.
  • We prefer you do not share information about the Wizard Deals we offer you, with others.

Check your email boxes over the coming weeks! – more info and invites coming soon!

Help little Charli and her family

Monday, July 4th, 2011

As many of you are aware, Warcom has sponsored the Overclockers Australia community for many years now and has a very close relationship with the community…

Some more so than others…

Little Charli

Little Charli

I was contacted today by several of the moderators and members who pointed out this thread to me..

One of our members needs our help. Can you help please? – http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=969308

On the 2nd July forum manager (Ma Baker) posted this update..

“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that the news is not good. Charli has been an extremely brave little girl. She’s had her operation and is at present having chemotherapy.

Charli has been diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumor, and her mum and dad have been told that her cancer is untreatable. Within two weeks of the operation the cancer had grown to the size it was before the operation. They don’t know if it will be days or weeks but she will be kept comfortable with treatment.

As you can imagine the family are devastated. silverbullet tried to continue to work for obvious reasons but when they found out that they were limited for time he’s had to put work on hold to spend as much time with his precious daughter and family that he can.”

Ma Baker and James ‘Agg’ Rolfe (the founder of OCAU), have already setup donation accounts for this extremely cute little girl, but on behalf of Warcom, I (Paul Warren) and the rest of Warcom also wanted to chip in and do our bit.

I’ve watched my grandmother, my grandfather, my auntie, my best mate and countless other people battle cancer… So I personally am familiar with the evil that is cancer.

I’m an avid support of the livestrong foundation also…

.. So what are we doing?

  • In conjunction with OCAU & the Ozoux family (Steve, Katie, Lukas & Charli) Warcom will be accepting donations effective immediately for the family and passing them over to aid Steve and Katie with all the costs throughout this tragic time.
  • We’ll be emailing our entire customer database tomorrow (for the first time – expect several emails!) and asking you to all dig deep. Please do so.
  • We’ll be reaching out to our Twitter and Facebook followers.
  • We’ll be reaching out to fellow businesses that we know online and offline (even competitors!) and asking them to dig deep.
  • We’ll setup a webpage listing everyone who donates on our site and keep it updated. ***
  • … Other ideas are more than welcome.

All donations can be can be made to the following Warcom bank account:

Account Name: Warcom
BSB: 06 3875
Account: 1038 0030

Description: Charli + Your Name or Company Name.

We can NOT accept Paypal donations!

We’re asking everyone donate as much as they can to help this lovely family during this tragic time.

On behalf of everyone here at Warcom, our thoughts go out to the Ozoux family and little Charli.

Sincerely,

Paul Warren.
