What is an ADSL Splitter for?

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Although ADSL modems use the same telephone line as your phone, it requires a higher frequency to work; for this to happen the ADSL signals have to be filtered out before they reach the home phone, and it works the other way as well, the telephone signals have to be filtered out before they reach the ADSL modem.

If this doesn’t happen then there will be a background noise on your phone that will sound a bit like ‘An old Antenna-less television set.’ To avoid the interference from the Modem, you’ll need to install a Splitter, which is going to act like a two way gate with a line in the middle which separates the signals from each other just after they come through the wall socket.

ADSL splitters are very cheap. Our best seller is the ACS 901e2 ADSL 2-inline-filter/splitter.

“The Best ADSL1/2/ADSL2+ filter on the market, certified to the strict new ADSL2+ Australian Standard.”

Do I need to say more?

ADSL splitters save a lot of trouble, you may find that you will have to upgrade if you buy a newer, higher speed modem for the splitter won’t be able to handle it, some splitters also slow down your Internet connection whilst filtering the signals, so if you’re wise, the ACS 901e2 ADSL 2-inline-filter/splitter is certainly the filter you’ll be ordering today!
